Progesterone is generally regarded as an effectual treatment for acne. Being a female hormone that occurs naturally in the body, progesterone helps in oxygenating the skin cells, thereby preventing acne. But, it is also to be noted that a raise in progesterone levels are likely to increase the acne problem. Acne also seems to be related to PMS, as is noted by lots of women because of increased progesterone levels in the body during that time.
Progesterone comes in both the synthetic as well as the natural forms. The synthetic variety, named progestin, is manufactured commercially as an active ingredient in acne medications. Progesterone is produced in its natural form in the human body in varying levels according to the menstrual cycle, and it affects a lot of factors like ovulation, water retention and the like. Both the natural and the synthetic forms are used in several topical medications to treat acne. But it is always necessary to check with your medical practitioner before trying out any such therapy to get rid of your acne.
Acne may also be caused as a result of the functioning of another natural hormone, Androgen, which stimulates additional oil production with the intention of cleaning out a blocked hair follicle. But this unwittingly gives rise to bacteria which also cause acne. Progesterone, in the form of birth control pills is prescribed by some doctors to control the functioning of androgens in the body that causes acne. But androgen levels are also connected with the menstrual cycle in women, which makes matters worse.
The merits of Progesterone in the treatment of acne are still under dispute. Although it is possible to get progesterone in a topical form without any prescriptions, any steps taken to control acne should invariably be with the guidance of a doctor.

Losing weight: Is it really that hard?
How do you plan to lose your unwanted weight? That is the point where you must begin. You will need to change your entire life or you will not keep the weight off. You don’t want to call it a diet. Diets are temporary. Most people don’t want weight loss to be temporary. You want to lose the weight and not ever gain it back. You won’t do that by going back to your old habits.
First, you need to get off your couch and start moving. You will have to do some form of exercise. Not only will it help you lose weight, it will make you healthy. And that’s what this is really about, being healthy. People don’t want to have heart disease when they get older. Exercise will help keep heart disease and other medical problems at bay. Metabolism is also raised through exercise.
What all do you put into your body in a single day? You will need to get a notebook and write down everything you eat for at least a week. Carry it with you so you don’t forget to write something down. You don’t have to add up the calories, but I find that it helps. Now you can really see what all you are taking into your body on a daily basis.
Now change it. Do stuff differently. Each person’s body is different and reacts to stuff differently. You will have to find what will work for your body and you. Continue with that until your body is no longer responding to that particular method. Your body will need an added boost every now and then to keep the weight loss going. That is one reason you are told to include a free day every week. Your metabolism will stabilize once your body realizes what you are doing. If you throw a free day in there, it messes it up.
